Certifed Patient Care Technician

AdventHealth is seeking a Certified Patient Care Technician to provide direct patient care in our acute care setting in Land O Lakes, Florida. In this full-time day shift role, you will work under the direction of registered nurses to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to patients of varying ages, mobility levels, and acuity.

Responsibilities

• Perform treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture
• Function appropriately in clinical emergencies
• Follow prescribed isolation guidelines, demonstrate appropriate use of protective equipment, perform handwashing according to policy, and enforce safety regulations
• Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff
• Assist in the delivery of patient care as a team member under the direction of a registered nurse
• Document and report all procedures in accordance with department policy
• Participate in obtaining a nursing history and report abnormalities to the registered nurse
• Assist in identifying patient needs
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members
• Participate in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and support quality standards and initiatives
• Exhibit a desire to learn and upgrade skills continuously
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current BLS/CPR certification
• One of the following certifications: Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), NHA Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A), NCCT Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), AMCA Patient Care Technician Certification (PCT-C), or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

Preferred Qualifications

• One or more years of applicable PCT experience
• Previous bedside patient care experience in an acute care unit, unit secretary, monitor technician, or equivalent medical experience
