The opportunity

Job Description

Nebraska Medicine is seeking a Case Management Nurse for Village Pointe Aesthetic Surgery. In this role, you will manage a system of patient care delivery for a designated group of patients to achieve high quality, cost-effective outcomes across the continuum of health care.

Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • Monday through Friday
  • 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Days vary
  • Exempt status

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of nursing experience
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required, unless you meet all criteria for Exception A or Exception B (see below)
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska or a current compact state
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (required for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (department dependent)
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and make independent clinical judgments
  • Experience with basic patient care equipment, policy procedure, and protocol manuals
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with an interdisciplinary team
  • Effective critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Ability to effectively evaluate care across the continuum

BSN Exception Criteria

Exception A: You may qualify without a BSN if you meet all of the following: (1) have current experience directly applicable to this position; (2) are deemed the best candidate for the position; and (3) receive written approval from appropriate operational leadership, nursing professional practice leadership, and the Chief Nursing Officer. If hired without a BSN under Exception A, you must either have 30 years of experience directly applicable to the position or sign a written agreement to obtain a BSN within four years of your hire date.

Exception B: You may qualify without a BSN if you meet all of the following: (1) are currently employed by Nebraska Medicine or eligible for rehire within 364 days of a previous termination; (2) were hired by Nebraska Medicine before November 21, 2014, or by an entity acquired by Nebraska Medicine if hired before the acquisition; (3) have experience directly applicable to this position; and (4) currently hold a Registered Nursing License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior nursing experience in a related field
  • Prior experience in one or more of the following areas: oncology, cardiovascular care, neonatal intensive care, nephrology, solid organ transplantation, general medical/surgical care, emergency care, critical care, med spa, dialysis, interpretation and explanation of physical/laboratory/screening results
  • Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree
  • Knowledge of the health care financial environment and reimbursement systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel
  • Experience with graphic software
  • Experience with patient teaching materials
  • Understanding of related patient registries and databases
  • Experience leading or supervising a team
  • Certification in one or more of the following areas: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Blood and Marrow Transplant Certified Nurse, Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN), Oncology Nursing Society Chemotherapy and Biotherapy, transplant coordination, or Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
