Portsmouth Regional Hospital is seeking a Cardiac Stepdown Patient Care Technician to join our collaborative nursing team. In this role, you will provide vital support to Registered Nurses in delivering hands-on patient care on our cardiac stepdown unit, a specialized setting for patients transitioning from intensive care. You will help create a safe, welcoming environment while assisting patients with daily needs and helping RNs monitor conditions and carry out care plans.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient preparation, mobility, transfers, and comfort to support smooth care and recovery
- Provide non-medicated care such as dressing changes, skin protection, and use of supportive devices
- Keep patient areas and common spaces clean, organized, and stocked to maintain safety and efficiency
- Manage supplies, equipment, and logs to support infection control and team readiness
- Communicate kindly with patients, families, and the care team to support safety and quality
Clinical Setting
Portsmouth Regional Hospital is a 240-bed acute care facility in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, recognized as an ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center with a robust heart and vascular program. The hospital serves communities throughout New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts.
Schedule
- Full-time position
- 36 hours per week
- Days shift: 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Every other weekend and rotating holidays required
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential
- New Hampshire LNA (Licensed Nursing Assistant) license
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
