Sharp Memorial Hospital is seeking a Cardiac Nurse Practitioner to provide advanced nursing care based on specialty expertise in cardiology. This full-time day shift position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary healthcare team while delivering comprehensive patient care, conducting evidence-based practice, and contributing to professional development within the cardiac specialty.
Schedule
- Shift: 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM
- 10-hour shifts
- Weekends as needed
- No on-call requirement
Responsibilities
- Perform ongoing patient assessment based on advanced nursing practice principles and specialty knowledge of the cardiac patient population within the scope of NP practice
- Complete comprehensive patient database and documentation including history and physical assessment
- Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic testing
- Identify appropriate differential diagnoses
- Develop and implement plans of care that promote optimal health outcomes and incorporate interdisciplinary input
- Apply advanced nursing principles and practices per standardized procedures, including furnishing medications as clinically indicated
- Evaluate patient progress toward goals and alter the plan of care based on evaluation
- Document care and services per guidelines and compliance policies
- Demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills when consulted by interdisciplinary team members
- Collaborate with healthcare team members in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating comprehensive healthcare for patients and families
- Assess learning needs of patients and families in collaboration with the healthcare team
- Plan, provide, and coordinate patient and family education
- Participate in evaluation of patient and family education outcomes
- Remain current on evidence-based practice related to cardiology and present information to collaborating team members
- Participate in one or more of the following as negotiated with supervisor: evaluate existing frameworks to ensure practice is current and evidence-based, conduct or provide leadership in clinically based research, conduct or provide leadership in performance improvement activities, or evaluate efficacy, utilization, and safety of products, devices, and technology
- Develop new areas of expertise and skill acquisition applicable to the role, including specialty certification
- Facilitate or provide opportunities for improving nurse practitioner sensitive outcomes in selected patient populations
- Recognize self-development needs and seek resources or experiences that promote professional growth
- Participate in one or more of the following as negotiated with supervisor: maintain membership in professional organizations related to specialty, participate in community health events, participate in activities that promote the nursing profession and advanced practice nursing, educate staff on new or advanced applications of skills, precept students and new staff, provide community education, develop and maintain department-specific competency programs, or assist with evaluation of educational activities
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Nursing or related Healthcare degree or equivalent experience
- California Registered Nurse (RN) license from the CA Board of Registered Nursing
- California Nurse Practitioner (NP) Certificate from the CA Board of Registered Nursing
- AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) certification from the American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of experience
- DEA Controlled Substance Registration from the U.S. Department of Justice
Compensation
- Hourly pay range: $77.91 - $112.59 (minimum - maximum)
- Midpoint: $100.53
The actual pay rate and pay grade will depend on factors including years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, and other requirements for the position.
