BioLife Plasma Services, a subsidiary of Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Ltd., is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to serve as a Medical Support Specialist at our Fairview Heights, Illinois plasma donation center. In this role, you will support plasma center operations by determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable results. You will work under the guidance of the Center Manager for operational direction and the Center Physician for medical issues.

Clinical Setting

You will work in a plasma donation center environment, supporting the collection of high-quality plasma that becomes life-changing medicines. The center operates on the following schedule:

  • Monday: Closed
  • Tuesday–Thursday: 6 AM – 7 PM
  • Friday: 6 AM – 6 PM
  • Saturday–Sunday: 7 AM – 3 PM

Your schedule will typically run from 30 minutes before opening to one hour after closing, with flexible shifts throughout the week. Full-time and part-time positions are available for candidates with open availability.

Responsibilities

  • Determine donor eligibility, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, and blood testing
  • Review Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE) results
  • Evaluate donor reactions that occur at the facility according to standard operating procedures
  • Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when providing unacceptable findings to donors or when guidance is needed concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility
  • Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable
  • Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health or emergency room
  • Serve as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Currently licensed as an LPN or LVN in the state where responsibilities will be assigned
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy in the state of licensure
  • Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting
  • Satisfactorily complete FDA-approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist

Compensation and Benefits

Sign-on bonus of $2,000 with day one benefits eligibility.

U.S. Hourly Wage Range: $24.30 – $33.44

The actual hourly wage offered may depend on qualifications, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education, certifications or professional licenses held, and job location.
