The opportunity

Job Description

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is seeking a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to deliver walk-in care across three family medicine clinic locations: Southpointe Clinic, West Fargo Clinic, and Moorhead Clinic in the Fargo, North Dakota area.

This position provides advanced nursing care to patients of all ages, from infants to older adults, in a primary care setting. You will assess, diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic illnesses while promoting health and wellness in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive physical exams and health assessments
  • Obtain and interpret patient histories and diagnostic tests
  • Diagnose and treat common acute and chronic medical conditions
  • Prescribe medications and therapeutic treatments within the scope of practice
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans
  • Provide health education and counseling on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle choices
  • Manage follow-up care and coordinate referrals to specialists when needed
  • Perform minor procedures as appropriate, such as wound care and suturing
  • Document patient care accurately in the electronic health record system
  • Participate in quality improvement and practice initiatives
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members
  • Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based practice guidelines

Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • 40 hours per week
  • 8-hour day shifts

Required Qualifications

  • Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner in each state of practice
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice
  • State Controlled Substance License, if required by state
  • National board certification as Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C or FNP-BC)
  • Current specific competencies and certifications as outlined on privilege form

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in primary care or family medicine
  • Master's degree in nursing, if APRN was licensed prior to August 1, 1995
