ADVANCED PRACTICE NURSE (NURSE PRACTITIONER)

Naval Hospital at Camp Pendleton seeks a Family Nurse Practitioner to serve as a direct primary health care provider. This is a 13-month term position offering the opportunity to deliver comprehensive primary care services to patients ranging from infants through geriatric populations in a military medical setting.

Clinical Setting

This position is located at Naval Hospital, Department of Medicine, Family Medicine, Camp Pendleton, California. You will work within a federal military healthcare system providing direct patient care and clinical decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a credentialed Nurse Practitioner providing primary care services across all age groups
• Conduct independent examinations, diagnose disease, illness, disorder, or injury
• Prescribe medications and order or interpret laboratory and diagnostic test results
• Institute treatment of patients within your personal credentials and privileges
• Make clinical decisions regarding medical care and interpret evolving medical processes resulting from new technological developments
• Make decisions concerning primary care needs that impact the care of other healthcare professionals and ancillary staff

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher from an accredited professional nursing educational program in Family Nurse Practitioner, accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
• Current, active, full, and unrestricted RN license from a U.S. state, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory
• Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse in the specialty of Family Nurse Practitioner or related specialty from a U.S. state, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory
• One or more full years of professional nursing experience that includes obtaining health histories, prescribing medications, and ordering or interpreting laboratory or diagnostic test results
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
• U.S. citizenship

Licenses and Certifications

• Active RN license
• Family Nurse Practitioner license or related specialty
• Current BLS certification (American Red Cross)
• Hepatitis B immunization required
• Current immunization screening

Conditions of Employment

• This is a term appointment not-to-exceed 13 months with no conversion to permanent status
• One-year probationary period required
• Secret security clearance required with background investigation and credit check
• Personnel Security Investigation required
• Pre-employment drug screening and random drug testing required
• Pre-placement medical examination required
• Credentialing requirements and clinical privileges must be obtained and maintained
• Seasonal influenza vaccination required or recognized exemption must be provided
• Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds required
• Occasional temporary duty (TDY) or business travel may be required
• Position designated as Mission Essential; incumbent must report during contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather, or other emergency situations
• Permanent federal employees accepting this term position will lose permanent tenure and statutory return rights
• Position may be terminated before the NTE date if the permanent employee returns or due to lack of funds or work
• Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration
• Direct deposit of pay required

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary: $177,442 per year (GS-12)
