Ada Operating Room Circulator - Registered Nurse - Full Time

Mercy is seeking a Registered Nurse to serve as an Operating Room Circulator in our surgical services department. In this full-time role, you will coordinate and oversee patient care throughout the perioperative experience, serving as a key advocate for patients during surgery. You will partner with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals to promote patient safety, ensure efficient surgical workflows, and deliver exceptional care.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures
• Serve as the patient's advocate throughout the perioperative experience
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members regarding care plans and surgical procedures
• Complete accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record
• Utilize patient safety tools and perform detailed patient handoffs
• Monitor patient status and respond appropriately to changing conditions
• Delegate and supervise care activities as appropriate
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing education, and departmental competencies
• Support a culture of teamwork, safety, and clinical excellence
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (Associate Degree, Diploma, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing)
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice or compact state licensure, as applicable
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association within 30 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Operating Room and/or Circulator nursing experience
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment

Additional Certifications

Additional certifications may be required based on department needs, including ACLS and other unit-specific certifications.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to push, pull, and/or lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
• Ability to reach, bend, kneel, squat, twist, and perform other physical activities necessary for patient care and surgical support
