Join Barnes-Jewish Hospital, Missouri's largest hospital and a top-ranked facility by U.S. News & World Report, as an Acute Medicine Patient Care Technician. This part-time position supports the nursing team in providing direct patient care to individuals with a wide range of acute medical conditions, including blood disorders, endocrine pathology, heart and renal failure, gastrointestinal conditions, and infectious diseases. You will work nights on an acute care medicine unit supported by an interdisciplinary team including advanced practice nurses, case managers, social workers, physical therapists, dietitians, and pharmacists.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of licensed nurses, promoting patient and family-centered care in a healing environment
- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
- Perform vital signs, intake and output monitoring, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, and point of care testing as requested
- Collect clinical data and information on patients and report changes in patient status to the nursing team
- Assist nurses with patient and family education
- Document all patient care activities using correct medical terminology
- Act as a 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary
- Ensure availability of supplies and equipment to meet patient needs
- Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance
- Participate in professional development
Schedule
- Part-time, 24 hours per week
- Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Holiday rotation required
- Weekend rotation required
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- No prior experience required
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)
- Experience as a nurse assistant, EMT, or surgical technician
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly rate: $17.50 to $22.75 per hour (based on qualifications and relevant work experience)
