The opportunity

Job Description

This position offers an opportunity to provide comprehensive inpatient cardiology care as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant working day shifts. You will work alongside attending physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to manage acute cardiac patients through admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and discharge.

Responsibilities

  • Take initial patient histories and perform physical examinations
  • Initiate, document, and communicate plans of care with follow-up to ensure complete screening and patient preparation
  • Perform daily patient rounds
  • Write orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests
  • Interpret laboratory and test results
  • Confer with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and other care providers to ensure optimal quality of patient care
  • Document discharge summaries, prescriptions, and referrals on patient charts
  • Provide patients with post-discharge care instructions
  • Participate in performance improvement, research, and educational activities

Required Qualifications for Physician Assistant Track

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Graduate of an accredited Accreditation Review Committee for Physician Assistant Programs (ARC-PA) program
  • Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant by the New York State Department of Education
  • Current NCCPA Certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants
  • Current BLS certification

Required Qualifications for Nurse Practitioner Track

  • Master's degree in a Nurse Practitioner Program
  • National Board Certification in specialty area
  • Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in New York State
  • Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State
  • Collaborative practice agreement with designated protocols filed with NYS Department of Education OR collaborative relationship attestation as per the Nurse Practitioner Modernization Act 2015
  • Current BLS certification
