Academic Interventional Radiologist

Tufts Medical Center and Tufts Medicine seek an Interventional Radiologist to join the Department of Radiology with primary clinical responsibilities at Tufts Medical Center in Melrose, MA. This full-time academic position offers the opportunity to practice in a thriving hospital environment while maintaining strong academic collaboration through the Tufts system. The role combines procedural work, diagnostic imaging, consultations, and opportunities for teaching and professional development.

Clinical Setting

This position is based at Tufts Medical Center, a community hospital setting within Tufts Medicine. You will work collaboratively with local care teams including surgery, emergency medicine, oncology, and primary care, participating in multidisciplinary discussions, rounds, and case reviews to support coordinated, high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

• Perform a broad spectrum of interventional procedures including vascular access, biopsies, drainages, embolization, and other minimally invasive therapies
• Interpret diagnostic imaging studies to support safe and effective procedural planning
• Provide inpatient and outpatient interventional radiology consultations
• Evaluate patients pre- and post-procedure and support continuity of care
• Provide clear patient education regarding procedures, expectations, and follow-up plans
• Participate in multidisciplinary discussions and case reviews
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives and support program development in community-based interventional radiology
• Maintain strong collaboration with Tufts Medical Center faculty, with optional participation in academic activities, teaching, and research depending on interest
• Ensure thorough and accurate clinical documentation in accordance with hospital and system standards

Required Qualifications

• MD or DO degree
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Diagnostic Radiology with fellowship training in Interventional Radiology
• Strong procedural and diagnostic skills applicable to community hospital practice
• Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient care skills
• Commitment to compassionate, high-quality care for a diverse patient population

• Interest in participating in academic or educational activities through Tufts Medical Center

Academic Rank and Compensation

Academic rank (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor) and compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary range for this position is $425,000 to $550,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined during the selection process based on relevant experience, education, internal equity, and academic rank.
