This position provides dedicated nursing care for an assigned student in the school setting to promote health and well-being and enable full participation in educational opportunities. The 1:1 school nurse works closely with classroom teachers to meet the physical and health care needs of medically fragile and special needs students during the school day, adapting educational materials and activities to support student learning.
This is a school-based nursing position within the Northshore School District. You will be assigned to work with one student throughout the school day, accompanying the student during classroom activities, school-based activities, and potential field trips held within school hours. You may also be required to ride the school bus with students or attend field trips occurring during school hours.
This position is physically demanding with frequent interruptions. You may spend your workday on your feet, standing, and walking or sitting. Tasks may require bending, stretching, lifting, or adjusting medical equipment. Fine motor dexterity is necessary for medication administration, injections, putting on gloves, performing medical procedures, working with computerized records, and completing paperwork. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. You may be exposed to communicable disease and bodily secretions.
Hours and days vary. This is a non-exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
Salary is based upon the current ESP Collective Bargaining Agreement and will be in accordance with the current ESP salary schedule (Level III, 2025/26 ESP Salary Schedule).
Washington state health insurance coverage (SEBB) and a Washington state retirement package are available for eligible positions. You are generally eligible for SEBB benefits if you are anticipated to work at least 630 hours per school year (September 1 through August 31). SEBB benefits include:
