0000 Facility - Certified Nursing Assistant

As a Certified Nursing Assistant, you will provide medical and therapeutic care under the direction of nursing and clinical staff in a behavioral health setting. You will work directly with patients to ensure their well-being, safety, and comfort while supporting their treatment goals and rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

• Complete patient observation rounds timely, with observations assigned every 15 minutes, maintaining close proximity to or 1:1 care with patients as assigned
• Assist with transferring, lifting, raising, and turning patients
• Obtain and accurately document patient vital signs, height, and weight as assigned
• Maintain clean, uncluttered patient rooms and equipment including beds, IV poles, and wheelchairs
• Provide personal care including feeding, bathing, dressing, grooming, and changing linens
• Identify yourself to patients and visitors promptly and respond to patient requests quickly
• Engage with patients in activities and interactions designed to support treatment goals
• Respond to distressed patients in a non-threatening manner and apply de-escalation techniques to manage patient emotions and behavior
• Assist with seclusion and restraints when necessary
• Monitor and reinforce behavioral improvements, reporting significant changes to the nurse immediately
• Reinforce skills patients learn from nurses, physicians, and therapists that promote physical and mental wellness
• Provide or coordinate patient transportation as required
• Document timely, accurate, and appropriate clinical information in patient medical records
• Collaborate with other staff members in treating and rehabilitating the facility's patient population
• Maintain a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude; acknowledge and work to resolve patient complaints
• Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, family members, guests, and healthcare team members
• Adhere to work schedule and maintain overall attendance
• Follow established policies, procedures, and standards for patient care
• Perform other functions and tasks as assigned

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or license per state requirements
• CPR certification
• De-escalation and restraint certification (training available upon hire and offered by facility)
• First aid certification may be required based on state or facility requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a behavioral health setting
• Knowledge and experience working with the facility's patient population
